Hail Roald Dahl
I am very happy to find this community. I have been a fan of Roald Dahl for many years. I started reading his books when I was in 4th grade. Every year I try to reread one of his books and I alway discover something wonderful and new. My favorite works are James and the Giant Peach, The BFG,The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Danny the Champion of the World, Henry Sugar and Revolting Rhymes. | | Friday, July 7th, 2006 | | 1:40 pm |

I Am Alive Again
The last few weeks have been a maelstrom of work, good-byes, packing up, unpacking, endless meetings and body destroying stress. I'm so glad its over for awhile. I can now take my truly deserved two week holiday. I will be reading books, listening to my stack of Jmusic cds, resuming my anime series and reading viewfinder fiction again. The main highlight of this two week hiatus is a lovely, trip to Bali and Lombok for some sun, surf and relaxation! Now I'm starting to wonder if two-weeks is enough. I should have haggled for a month long break^_^ | | Saturday, May 27th, 2006 | | 5:42 pm |
Chocolate
I think chocolate must be one of God's greatest gift to mankind. It is pure heaven and some days are just unbearable without it. Dark chocolate is strong, addicting and a thrill to the tastebuds.It's just like love; sweet and bitter at the same time, and you cant live without it! i believe we must all get our daily dose of chocolate. | | 4:50 pm |
a retelling of Beauty and the Beast VF)
I've been thinking about it for awhile. if VF was a fairytale, it would certainly be derived from Beauty and the Beast. Asami is certainly the quintesential Beast and the delicate Akihito our rebelious Beauty. Asami for all his power, influence and wealth is certainly in need of rescuing from his violent world and the nature of his own heart. Akihito much like beauty is thrown unwilling into the frey due to circumstances which he could not control. Akihito now faces the double task of saving himself from the beast and ensuring a happy ending for both of them From there, we see the struggle between good and evil unfold within the characters conflicting emotions and beliefs but also as outside forces threaten the little world they have built around themselves. The stories share several similaritiess, not only in the case of the characters but also on some of the events which take place in the VF storyline. Hahaha1 I must be getting addicted to VF. I'm now making connections with fairytales. more thoughts next time. I"m horrendously exhausted from work. Current Mood: busyCurrent Music: ELT;s Stray cat | | Thursday, May 25th, 2006 | | 5:16 pm |
class starts
Every year i look forward to teaching the course on folktales, fairytales and myths. I find it amazing that so many of today's stories, books and films are actually based on or derived from this classic tales. It is also a joy to observe the students' reaction as we discuss and discover the origin of each story. It seems that Beauty and The Beast is a favorite this year. | | Wednesday, May 24th, 2006 | | 4:54 pm |
It is with great trepidation that I lay my thoughts out in this journal. It has been years since I've written anything,. even a short, simple comment seems challenging nowadays. I still remember the countless times I've put my thoughts on paper or on screen. I did'nt really care back then I wrote what i wanted to write. Now, I notice every detail, the misspellings, the awkward and unfinished thoughts. My brain is fried and I don't know how to write anymore. | | 2:41 pm |
another beautiful day, VF
What a day! this is my first time posting in my journal. I've been a member for two weeks but work has been hellish the past few weeks. I've recently discovered Ayano Yamane's manga Finder No Hyoteki. Yamane Sensei is an excellent artist. The pictures are amazing. Asami Ryuichi and Takaba Akihito are great characters. The first chapter of the manga was so-so, but things are gradually picking up and the story's becoming more interesting. I can't help but say that this has to be one of the sexiest manga I've ever read. I will try and think of more intersting things to post :) Current Mood: cheerfulCurrent Music: Larc en Ciel's Niji |
